Our Barnoldswick, Burnley and Colne branches offer a variety of routine services and clinics for local pets, meaning we have the opportunity to get to know local patients and clients properly and give back to our community.
We also run our own in-house emergency service from our Colne site, giving our team the opportunity to develop skills within emergency and critical care and support with rewarding and enriching cases.

We are a well-established, RCVS accredited practice with an excellent client base. We provide first-opinion care to small animals across East Lancashire. Our focus is on excellent medicine, supporting our people, and creating a positive work-life balance.

- A consulting and operating branch in Burnley
- A consulting branch in Barnoldswick
- Based in East Lancashire, which has a blend of vibrant town life and beautiful countryside. The Team:
We’re a team of around 65 people who generally work across our branches, creating a strong and cohesive environment. We pride ourselves on our friendly, collaborative culture. Our team love working here — and our clients often tell us they can feel it.
The Role:
- Based mainly at our Burnley branch
- Permanent, full-time – we are open to flexible working arrangements and can consider part time. Chat to us about what may work for you.
- Consulting only position – enjoy a role centred on client interaction and clinical decision-making. If you’d like to keep your surgical skills sharp, we can include routine procedures too.
- No OOH! – We have our own dedicated OOH service at our Colne branch and take pride in providing continuity of care for our patients
** Salary – 45-65k **
Who We’re Looking For:
- Ideally, candidates who have completed their VetGDP and have confidence in routine consultation, with excellent client care and communication skills.
- Enthusiastic about learning, CPD, and working within a supportive, well-established team

- Confident in routine consultations and surgery, with VetGDP completed
- Keen to work with a diverse and interesting caseload
- Interested in developing and strengthening in-house services — particularly surgery or orthopaedics

Small Animal Receptionist – Part Time Position
Small Animal Receptionist
Stanley House Veterinary Group is looking for a friendly, organised, and compassionate Receptionist to join our welcoming team.
As the first point of contact for our clients, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of our busy veterinary practice. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people and animals in a fast-paced, supportive environment.
Our reception team work at all sites (Colne, Burnley and Barnoldswick) and therefore having your own transport is essential. They are a happy, friendly, and supportive team and full in-house training will be given. However, it is a complex role with lots to learn.
Salary – £12.80 per hour
About Stanley House
We are a well-established, RCVS accredited veterinary practice with branches across East Lancashire. Our team is passionate about providing outstanding patient care while creating a positive and supportive workplace for our colleagues.
The Role
This part-time position is for 20 hours per week
Mon – 8:30AM – 2:00PM COLNE
Tuesday – 2:00PM – 7:00PM BURNLEY
Thursday – 8:30AM – 1:00PM BURNLEY
Friday – 2:00 – 7:00PM COLNE
1 in 8 Saturdays at COLNE
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing a warm, professional, and compassionate experience for clients both in person and over the telephone
- Managing appointments, client enquiries, and patient records accurately
- Supporting clients with information regarding preventative healthcare, Pet Health Plans, insurance, appointments, and practice services
- Working closely with the veterinary and nursing teams to support patient care and client communication
- Carrying out basic telephone triage and recognising emergency situations appropriately
- Maintaining a clean, welcoming reception environment
- Supporting colleagues across the practice and contributing positively to the team culture
- Upholding confidentiality, GDPR, and practice protocols at all times
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has excellent communication and customer service skills empathetic, professional, and approachable
- Works well both independently and as part of a team
- Can remain calm and organised in a busy environment
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Has a genuine passion for client and animal care
- Willing to learn and engage in ongoing training and development
Previous veterinary reception experience is beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided for the right candidate.
